I love planning

So if we plan 8 months in advance for our trip to Glacier and Yellowstone National parks, I want to budget for everything. We’ve decided to drive our SUV and stay in motels/cabins. Here’s what I have so far, but I want to “pad” the budget a bit for the unexpected things I never would think about. What other things should I plan for? We are going in August.

(This is for a family of 5. Dad, Mom, 13 year old, 10 year old, 8 year old.)

1500 miles each way 20mpg X 150 gals X $4.00 = $650 gas

Food – (water/groceries/dining/treats) for 10 days – $

Entertainment/Souvenirs/Tips/Parking (horseback riding/museums/tolls/bike rental/train trips/shuttle trips/tours/entrance fees) – $

Cabins – 9 nights – $

Annual National Park pass – $80

coins for laundry/personal supplies/sunscreen/misc/paper goods – $100

What kinds of things are available in National Parks? What ELSE am I forgetting???
